Monday, September 12th Highlights From The 2016 High Roller Reining Classic

by Christy Egan
September 13th, 2016

It was great to be able to take a breath on Monday. The Lucas Oil Arena set up for schooling Monday and Tuesday and the Priefert Arena is hosting the Limited Non Pro High Roller Classic #1 on Monday and #2 on Tuesday. Don’t get me wrong, it was not a day off. Both rings were active from first thing in the morning until early evening. The trainers were at a gallop between the schooling in the Lucas, the schooling in the warm up and the coaching in the Priefert. Still, compared to the schedule soon-to-be-starting Wednesday morning here at High Roller, we will definitely call it a “breather.”

Juli Moran and Fabio

There were almost a hundred entries in the Non Pro and that kept all of us busy until after 7 pm. Paige Diamond beat this big bunch with a solid 73 on her great champion, Diamond Oak. Kylie Robinson and Wimpys Tonnob took Reserve with a 72 and Megan Dante teamed Lookies Gotta Gun to mark a 71.5 for third.

Things heat up again in both rings starting Wednesday with the $21,000 Added Tamarack Ranch Non Pro Futurity, the $10,000 Added Smartpak Non Pro Maturity and the NARHA Arabian/Half-Arabian Non Pro Futurity. Wednesday afternoon there’s a not so serious Call To The Races. Pony Pals and big name trainers teaming up to compete for non-stop laughter, a Calcutta and big Party. Then, we’re at a dead run right down the middle of Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The $80,000 Added Tamarack Ranch Open Futurity, The Whizkey N Diamonds 4-Yr-Old Stakes Non Pro and Open and the Protect The Harvest 4/5/6 Year-Old Non Pro Derby and the Lucas Oil 4/5/6 Year-Old Open Derby. Don’t miss a single minute!
